Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Specialist to join our team in Caracas, Venezuela. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with extensive experience in conflict analysis, scenario building, and strategy development.
About the Role: The Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Specialist will provide strategic advice to the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team on conflict prevention and peacebuilding initiatives. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of engagement with senior officials, including those in the United Nations, government, and external partners.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct conflict analysis and scenario building to inform the design and implementation of conflict prevention and peacebuilding initiatives.
- Provide risk-informed/conflict-sensitive development advice to the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent and respond to conflicts, including identifying entry points for mainstreaming conflict prevention and conflict sensitivity in UN programming.
- Support the design and facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes to build national, local, and community-level capacities for dialogue and negotiation.
- Liaise with national, regional, and local stakeholders, including civil society, social movements, academia, think tanks, unions of workers and businessmen, women's and youth networks, and key international actors.
- Establish and maintain networks and partnerships with key stakeholders to advance conflict prevention and peacebuilding initiatives.
- Engage with academia and think tanks in research and analyses on peace and conflict-related themes.
- Maintain close liaison with relevant development partners, the diplomatic corps, regional organizations, and other actors supporting the UN's conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts.
Requirements: To be considered for this role, you must have at least ten years of experience in conflict analysis, scenario building, and strategy development, as well as proven policy, advisory, and advocacy experience. You should also have experience working or cooperating with a UN Agency/Fund/Programme or Department and/or field experience.
Working Conditions: This is a challenging role that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will be required to travel frequently and may be exposed to high levels of stress.
