Cybersecurity Specialist

At Canonical, we are building a team to provide security coverage across various ecosystems and environments. As a Ubuntu Security Engineer, you will work with top talent in the industry to monitor, triage, respond to, and document new and existing vulnerabilities in open source software.

This job involves international travel several times a year for collaboration and strategy alignment. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify and prioritize issues, track progress, and develop security patches.

• Analyzing and fixing vulnerabilities in Ubuntu packages
• Collaborating with other teams and upstream developers to exchange or develop vulnerability patches
• Auditing source code for vulnerabilities

• Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Skill in one or more programming languages such as C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, or PHP

You will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability, as well as result-oriented behavior and a personal drive to meet commitments.
