Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • You are responsible for the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a pure backend team and align everything clearly with outcomes and customer benefits.
  • You work closely with frontend POs, card providers, and internal stakeholders at the management level.
  • Together with your team, you will develop modern card management features and accompany them from discovery to delivery.
  • You will prioritize the backlog together with the Engineering Manager—based on data, transparently, and according to clear outcome KPIs.
  • You will manage the operation and further development of our services—together with internal partners and external service providers.
  • You will ensure that our services are available, performant, and secure.
  • You will measure success using KPIs and quality metrics, test hypotheses, and continuously develop the service.
  • You will take on stakeholder management at the management level: clarifying expectations, prioritizing interests, and mediating conflicts.

Required Skills:

  • At least 4 years of experience as a product owner, ideally with backend teams.
  • You have already worked in scaling product environments or migration projects – we would love to hear about a mini case study from your experience.
  • Outcome-oriented decision-making skills: You clearly justify impact, prioritize soundly, and make decisions even in uncertain situations.
  • You have a good basic technical understanding, even without technical training.
  • You move confidently between business and tech, communicate clearly in German and English, and manage to get teams and stakeholders on the same page.
  • You collaborate intensively with the front-end teams and work in a structured, independent manner with high quality standards.
  • Resilience and crisis management: You remain confident even in stressful situations.
  • Strong ownership mentality: You take responsibility, create clarity, and actively drive issues forward.
  • (Nice to have: experience in the payments environment and/or with subscription models.)
  • (You and your team come to the office up to 2 days a week to promote a good working culture.)

 Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English and German (at least B2) is essential.
  • Strong Team Player: Demonstrates the ability to excel in collaborative environments, effectively working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possesses solid analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to address complex issues and deliver high-impact solutions.
