About the RoleThe role of a Linux Desktop Support Engineer at Canonical involves delivering an outstanding technical support experience on the full Desktop and Server technical stack. You will be accountable for owning and managing your cases from problem qualification to full resolution, working collaboratively with colleagues and senior engineers when needed.
Your day-to-day job will involve providing technical expertise, being an excellent communicator, and a service-oriented professional. You will prioritize customer issues, maximize your effectiveness, and set time aside to learn about new products and technologies to evolve as a professional.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for employees remotely
- Take ownership of new cases via various channels
- Act as an internal customer advocate, keeping them updated in a timely manner
- Ensure each support case is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction
- Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones
- Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication
- Prioritize work to accomplish the most important and urgent tasks first
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent
- Experience with system performance troubleshooting
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting and server administration
- Programming fundamentals in any language
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
